Five Tuesday Evenings |
Learn how to set up and use MYOB as a simple cashbook, the most basic way of keeping financial records. Debtors, creditors, inventory and payroll are NOT included. Basic accounting and MYOB theory is delivered to allow comprehension of the environment within which the MYOB-user (Bookkeeper) operates. Chart of Accounts structure and creation/editing is covered in detail and the structure of basic transactions, including their dissection into appropriate account components. Card-file is explained and used, and the basic bank functions of "spend-money", "receive-money", "process bank deposits" and "bank account statement reconciliation" covered in depth. Simple P&L and Balance Sheet Reports are produced and explained. The course is a mix of 50% delivery with the Watsonia training manual and training data-files, and 50% working on a case-study of processing the bookkeeping for 1 month of a simple business, including bank reconciliation. |

Students are expected to have completed the Introduction to MYOB or have some reasonable experience with MYOB. This course follows on from Cash-book type bookkeeping to working with debtors and creditors. We also touch on the "Item" function of invoice creation, Invoice-types, Customer Invoice Statements, Payables/Receivables Reports, and GST including the BAS. Again, 50% Watsonia manual/data-files and 50% Case-study. |
